Lay My Tired Body Down By These Golden Cliffs Of Yore…

With all my serious travel done for the year i should now be able to find some time to graze through my files from the summer a bit more thoroughly, hopefully in search of some elusive gold. Of course i now run into a problem quite common amongst photographers, especially since the advent of the digital age, that mountainous backlog of images that is now in dire need of attention. I had fully intended to post one complete adventure after another here before moving on to the next, but fresh back from my trip to Nova Scotia i am kinda itching to dive into that pile first before bringing my west coast journey to a close. Sorry about that, but there is just no arguing with myself.
If you know me at all you know how i feel about Nova Scotia and what absolute joy i take in photographing there. So here's a look at one of my secret places there. Well, i'm sure it's no big secret to many, but as a special place for me i would prefer to treat this subject as occult for the time being. A place where the Serpent of the Sea meets the Golden Cliffs of Yore. No need to search hard for the "gold" here, the element is self-evident. This, i think, would be as good a place as any to scatter my ashes…

And when the time comes creeping
to lay my body down
toss my gray and dusty ashes
to the sea and salt and ground.

Where serpent waves are crashing
as he's lurking by the shore
and i will rest for all eternity
by these golden cliffs of yore.

  3. The color of the stone is amazing and this from a rock guy. Really like the way you captured the light, it reminds of an oil painting. Really love the last shot.

  4. Yes sir J.P. amazing colors indeed and i haven't jazzed them up in photoshop either. The wider lens shots did have a polarizer on it which does help with saturation, especially in those blue skies, but you all will have to trust me that these are pretty much how the color of these rock faces appear in person. For me it is a truly magickal place. :-)
