I Want a New Drug

I've had this gallery of Huey Lewis & The News ready to post for some time, but i'm only just now finding a moment to get them up. Huey has been kicking it with The News for 37 years now. Though you may not have heard much about them since the late 1980s the band has never stopped touring and their line-up has remained fairly intact over the years. Though they no longer tour with the old Tower of Power horns, saxist John Colla is still in place to lead an accomplished brass section. They also still have the origin keyboardist, Sean Hopper, and original drummer Bill Gibson. Most of the rest of the band has been in place since the 1994. This is very unusual for a band of this duration and makes for a very tight group of players. But it is perhaps 67 year old Huey Lewis who is most remarkable, leading his band with a youthful vigor that performers half his age might find hard to keep up with.
Like them or not, with classic hits like Hip to Be Square, Power of Love, If This is It and I Want a New Drug the band is a powerhouse soundtrack of the 80s. By landing the title track for the blockbuster film Back to the Future they increased their appeal to an even wider audience due to the incredible popularity of that movie. After that their music has appeared again and again in both films and television, securing their legacy well into the 21st century even if they have faded from most radio station's playlists.
So, while i never really thought about it until i had the opportunity to shoot them i am really glad i did get the chance.
